Last American wooden whaleship. Built 1841, the Charles W. Morgan was in service through the early 20th century. It was nearly destroyed by fire 1924. After rescue and restoration, it was exhibited at it Round Hill, the estate of Col. Edward Howland Robinson Green. It was towed to Mystic Seaport in 1941 and declared a National Historic Landmark in 1966. In 2010, the vessel was restored to sea-worthy condition and re-launched into the Mystic River on July 21, 2013.
