Original Caption: "Below: Gathered under the portrait of Theodore N. Vail, former president of American Telephone and Telegraph Company, for who the Institute's library of electrical engineering is named, Professor Harold L. Hazen, '24, Head of the Department of Electical Engineering (center), recalls the important role which the Vail Library has played in training communications engineers. Others in the group, in usual reading order, are: Dr. Compton, Mr. Harrell, and Erskine N. White and Thomas M. Hennessey, Vice-presidents of New England Telephone and Telegraph Company."
