“Aldo Rossi believed that contemporary architecture and urbanism should respect the vibrant fabric of cities that had been built up over time. To add new work to the collage of a city, he looked to historical examples, as in his Teatro del Mondo (Theater of the World) illustrated here. This floating, mobile, temporary theater adopted a historic building form and highlighted the ephemeral nature of architecture—all major themes of Rossi’s theories.” –“Drawing After Modernism” exhibition text
