Description

The Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company was established in Pittsburgh in 1886 by George Westinghouse. They sold instruments for electric power infrastructure, and was instrumental in the adoption of alternating current as a power supply. In 1945, the company changed its name to the Westinghouse Electric Corporation.
