Machlett Laboratories

Description

Machlett Laboratories was founded as E. Machlett and Son in New York City in 1897. The company was initially a maker of scientific glassware, but in 1934, the company was renamed as Machlett Laboratories to sell X-ray tubes. The company soon branched out into other high-power vacuum tubes for radio and television, as well as for induction heating. The company was acquired by Fisher Scientific in 1957, and then later purchased by Varian in 1989.
